Le Pelican de Luc Couillard et Christian Godin

Building a Pelican (September 4th 2000, part 3)

September 4th 2000

Week 10 of our follow-up of the building of a Pelican Sport from Ultravia Aero International Inc.

A visit at Luc's workshop on the night of September 4th.
Luc seems quite satisfied with his work.

The left main landing gear is in place.

Here is a view of the interior of the box where the shaft needed to fix the landing gear passes through the bottom of the fuselage.

A pipe acts as junction between the two legs extremities (the end of the yet to be installed right leg can be seen in the foreground). The rod going through the pipe prevents it from slipping on one side. The central pipe thus stays in place holding the two legs together.

Here is the right leg before it was installed into its place. The square metal part will be first installed in the box opening and fixed to the fuselage with screws.

Tip: to easely install the second leg, first screw the metal plaque in place.

Then all you have to do is ask your partner to lift or move down the wheel on the other side. This moves the pipe inside the central box in the fuselage and facilitates alignement for the second leg insertion.

The main gear is now in place...
